Stem Cell Research

What are Stem cells?
Stem cells are embryos formed during the Blastocyst phase of the of the
embryological development (embryonic stem cells) and Adult tissue (adult stem cells).

How are they used?
Stem cells are currently used and will likely be used in the future to stop diseases from progressing, and they may even be capable of undoing damage that is already present. Stem cells are used in way that provides hope to those living with incurable diseases and conditions.

How are they obtained?
Stem cells are obtained in ways such as adult stem cells are obtained from tissues that have already undergone some degree of development.  Rich sources of adult stem cells can be the umbilical cord and human bone marrow. Embryonic stem cells are cells taken from the inner cell mass of an embryo from four days to several weeks after fertilization. The stem cells are pluripotent, meaning they can develop into almost any body tissue.

Currently the most notable use for  Stem Cell Research  all over the world is to find cures for Cancer, none have been found yet.
